Chapter 21: Diver DownDad wakes up Juke from his nap to go run errands. Juke gets an extra dose of medication. The family listens to Van Halen as they drive to Target. While at Target, Juke thinks he needs a bowel movement and sits on the toilet pondering the purpose of toilet paper, but it is a false alarm. He stumbles and falls into a Pepsi promotional display. They buy supplies for Juke’s move to the group home.
Chapter 22: Secrets of MJuke’s thinking is becoming erratic again under increased medication. Dad and Juke stop at McDonald’s for French fries. Juke wonders about the “M” on the drive-through attendant’s shirt. They return home and Mom receives news that Planter found a residence for Juke to move into the next day, but it is for the most severe cases. The family goes for a walk with Juke riding in the wheelchair.
Chapter 23: The Eggs Have ItJuke eats eggs for dinner, eggs being one of his primary dietary staples. Juke thinks about different ways of preparing eggs while Mom and Dad discuss his placement at Planter.
Chapter 24: The Cold Hard Facts of ScienceJuke takes his evening medication, but the increased dose to deal with recent aggression continues to cause issues with his thinking. The family watches music videos while Juke dances. Mom and Dad discuss the difficulties Juke faces and whether life is fair. Mom goes upstairs to pack Juke’s things while Dad and Juke watch more videos. Mom puts Juke to bed, lays down next to him, and cries.
