Chapter 25: Future ExpeditionsJuke wakes up in an excellent mood with heightened awareness and clear thoughts. Mom gets him ready for the day and Dad makes him waffles. Juke sees his luggage in the kitchen and falls trying to lift it. After breakfast and songs, he goes upstairs to hear more songs and check on Mom.
Chapter 26: Did Traffic in All Manner of TrafficJuke speculates about their travels, hoping for the mall. On the freeway, Dad discusses how the terms for “profound intellectual disability” always evolve into insults and that no one would submit to Juke’s life. They arrive at Planter.
Chapter 27: PlantingMr. Taylor and Mr. Pete welcome the family to the Planter administration building and give them a guided tour. They meet the staff and sign paperwork. They go out to the playground.
Chapter 28: Reg, Larry, Pep, Charlie, and KevThe family walks to the group home across from the playground. They meet the staff on call and the five other residents. Reg sticks a handful of semen in Dad’s face. Larry sneaks up behind several of the party. Pep rocks back-and-forth on the couch and hums. Charlie always talks about his cat. Kev barks. Mom and Dad go over Juke’s diet with staff.
Chapter 29: Unspoken VolumesAfter going over Juke’s diet again with staff, Mom and Dad say goodbye to Juke and leave.
Chapter 30: White Worm Corpses With Bubbling Red CrudeJuke watches for his family’s return, pees his pants, and has a bowel movement. Staff clean up Juke and serve spaghetti for dinner, which Juke does not eat. Staff realizes Juke needs assistance to eat but Juke still refuses spaghetti and rolls. Staff feeds Juke a slice of fruity cake.
Chapter 31: Tarry Ye Here, and Watch With MeStaff and residents convene in the TV room. Juke spills a glass of water. Reg removes his pants and stands on the coffee table. Larry slaps Juke on the back of the head and is sent to his room. Juke takes off his shoes and socks and tries to take off his wet pants. Juke refuses liquid medicine, slapping it way. Reg strips off the rest of his clothes and runs into the front yard, setting off the house alarm. Staff take Reg to his room. The other residents take their medicine. The hour ends.
Chapter 32: Buenas Noches GuapoStaff get Juke ready for bed and he goes to bed. He listens to the other residents and feels sad as he thinks about his family.
