| Chapter 33: More Consequences of Barely Being Able to Talk | Kev opens Juke’s door early in the morning. Mr. Donnie on staff tells Juke to go back to bad. Juke pees his pants. Mr. Donnie roughly changes him but lingers too long. Pep interrupts them. Mr. Donnie gets Juke dressed and mocks him. Mr. Donnie wakes up Charlie to get ready for school. In the TV room, Mr. Donnie is distracted by Pep, and Juke grabs Mr. Donnie by the hair and slams him to the floor. |
| Chapter 34: The Plot Is Murder | Another staffer arrives and Mr. Donnie leaves. There is nothing for Juke to eat and he refuses liquid medicine. Juke and some of the residents get on a van to go to school. Juke takes his seat and Miguel slaps him from behind. Juke grabs Miguel by the hair. Kip yells at Juke. Juke tries to spit in Kip’s face. They go to school. |
| Chapter 35: The Star-Spangled Basher | Juke arrives at school and is directed to his classroom. They listen to the National Anthem. Mr. Taylor and Mr. Pete make announcements over the intercom. Brian throws a book that hits Juke. Juke is called over the intercom to go to the nurse’s office to take his medication. Escorted by aides, Juke tries to pick up a flag stand in the hallway but falls into it instead. |
| Chapter 36: Scrum, Skulk, Scrimmage, Skirmish & Squall | On the playground, one student jumps rope in front of the swing and an altercation ensues. Greg approaches Juke and demands a cracker. Juke headbutts him in the face. Juke sees Brian at the slide and grabs him by the shirt. Greg and Juke hit each other and Charlie attacks Greg. Aides get control of the playground, but several students’ shirts have been ripped off. Staff removes Charlie. |
| Chapter 37: Unexpected and Missing It | Juke attends Life Skills and works on brushing his teeth. At lunch, Juke sits with Pep and Kev but the only thing they serve that he will eat is sour grapes. Pep—who previously only hummed—calls “Watch out!” and pushes Juke’s head out of the way of feces thrown at Juke. Juke asks for something to eat. Greg grabs Juke by the shirt and Juke scratches him. Pep intervenes, and Greg knocks Juke and Pep to the floor. Staff removes Pep. |
| Chapter 38: Take that Baller to the Bank | Lunch over, Juke and Kev go to the gym. On the way, Kev jumps on the water fountain and pants like a dog until the janitor tells him to get down. Juke asks for a wheelchair. At the gym, Juke bounces a basketball into the net. Greg arrives and runs at Juke, who bounces a basketball into Greg’s face. Kev throws a basketball into Greg’s face. Staff removes Kev. |
| Chapter 39: There Is No Floor | The janitor takes Juke to Occupational Therapy. Todd pours juice down Juke’s shirt. Juke grabs Todd by the hair and pulls him to the floor. The Occupational Therapist goes to get help. Juke gives himself a bloody nose and rips his shirt. He chases Ashley out of the classroom. He strips and lays on the floor. The Occupational Therapist returns with the janitor and several aides. After Juke pees, they carry him out of the room. |
| Chapter 40: The Whole Concatenation of Diabolical Rascality | Juke is in isolation until the janitor comes with an aide named Tre, who is stylish and friendly. Tre consoles Juke and takes him around the school in a wheelchair. Tre sits with Juke on the van back to the group home and then feeds Juke foods that Juke eats. Tre updates Ms. Joyce about Juke’s first day. Juke and Tre listen to Elvis Presley and dance until Juke goes to bed. |
